eSIM Compatibility: Does Your Phone Support It

eSIM support arrived on the iPhone in 2018 and on most Android flagships soon after, but not every phone has it.

Checking compatibility before you buy a travel plan saves time and frustration.

  1. On iPhone, eSIM is supported from the XS and XR onward, with newer models able to hold multiple profiles.
  2. On Android, most Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, and recent flagship models include eSIM, but budget phones often do not.
  3. Carrier-locked phones may restrict eSIM use, so confirm your device is unlocked.
  4. Check the settings menu for an Add eSIM option, which is the fastest way to confirm support.
  5. A phone sold by a carrier may still be locked, so verify before your trip.
  6. Even without eSIM, most travel goals are met with a simple physical SIM.

If your phone lacks eSIM, a physical travel SIM remains a perfectly good alternative for the same savings.

Confirm your phone first, then shop with confidence for the best plan.
